Gerald Ford was the 38th President of the United
States, became the first and only president in the
history of the U.S. to become president without
having to be elected. He was born in Omaha Nebraska
in July 14, 1913 and passed on Tuesday December 26th,
2006.
Ford married Elizabeth Bloomer Warren, and had four children. He became vice president in 1973-1974 by nomination after the resignation of Aspiro Agnew. President Nixon nominated him to take the position on October 12.
Ford became president after the resignation of Nixon due to the Watergate scandal on August 9, 1974.
On September 8, 1974 Ford pardoned Nixon, claiming it was in the best interest of the nation. The Nixon Pardon was highly controversial and critics descrived it as a "Corrupt Bargain".
Ford was narrowly defeated in elections by Jimmy Carter in 1976. Ford died of heart complications at the age of 93 at his home in Rancho Mirage.
